« Kandle is the best for the Kindle »
I've been thru 4 other clip on lights for my Kindle & none of them lasted over 6 months. Since they all had long arms the wires would short out in them. Kandle has solved the problem no arm no shorts. It's perfect.

    « The Kindle Kandle. »
For Christmas of '09 my husband bought me a Kindle (2nd Gen.), which was a very nice surprise. Really the only problem I had with it was a lighting issue. The issue being I liked to read at night before bed, and he liked to just go to sleep when he got in bed. So for a couple months I tested out other book lights, but they all put this terrible shine spot in the middle of the page I was reading and I was constantly having to adjust it. Then one day I found out that Kindle had created the Kandle (I'm not usually a sucker for play on names, but I did really like this one). I decided to give it a shot and am very glad that I did. Since it's more of a light bar, instead one solitary light, it illuminates the whole "page" and I have had no problems with shine spots.

The only problem I have with it is that it is very, very bright. Some nights that is okay, but then some nights my husband can't fall asleep as easily and it bothers him because it does shine beyond my area. I just wish there was an adjuster for the brightness. That would make it great.

I'm not sure how long the average battery lasts; I am still on my first one. I have had it for a little over a month I think and use it a couple times a week for at least an hour and it's still going strong.

« The Kindle and the Kandle - A Pair! »
I've had the Kandle for about 8 months now. I bought it for my Kindle 2. It has been an excellent book-light. I prefer it over the classic book-light that bends and you have to constantly adjust. This book-light is perfect for reading in the dark or when it's just not bright enough. I haven't had any problems with it. I have no complaints.

I will say one thing though - be sure to carry the correct screw driver with you (because it requires a very tiny one). I carry an eyeglass repair kit in my purse which has the right size screw driver. And I always make sure to carry a back up set of batteries (which are inexpensive) - although I've never had the Kandle die on me. I guess that's just a safety precaution.

The one thing I was wondering though - they say in the product description that the Kandle is made for Kindle 1, 2, and other e-book readers. Does it still work with the Kindle 3?

All in all, the Kindle and the Kandle truly are a pair. I'm glad I made this purchase.

    I hope this helped.

    « Five-star Book Light »
This book light is far superior to any other I've used. The light covers the entire Kindle page, unlike the earlier book lights which only lit up part of the page and had to be moved around constantly. And I can read in bed without disturbing my husband. I love it.

« Decent, but could be much better »
I picked this up a while back when I first got my Kindle 2... I can say that while it *does provide light, it does not raise up high enough to provide decent coverage across the entire screen. My best experience with it is to use the Kindle in landscape mode, but then to attach the Kandle you end up putting it over the buttons you need access to.

The *amount of light is adequate, it is just that it needs a longer neck to provide good coverage. I give it a 3 on performance because while it *does allow me to read in a totally dark room - a little better engineering would have kept me using it - now it is more like a last resort...
