    « I am thrilled with this Blu-Ray »
My son purchased an LGBD570 WiFi Network Blu-ray Disc Player for me. I received it through the mail. Instructions said only a few minutes to install. That didn't happen. If I were just using it for movies yes, but to set it up for the Internets WiFi and netflix it took some time to load the information and connect it to my wireless internet connection. Unplugging my modem and plugging it back in to get the connection with the disc provided did the trick. Less than 1 hr and I was on the internet through my TV. Streaming movies through netflix, also. I was concerned at first because I do not have a 1080p TV. Mine is a 720p, but this machine works with my TV and still makes everything I watch a much liked higher quality picture. I am just amazed at how great even the TV movies come through. This machine boosts the picture quality and makes everything look high definition. Very satisfied with this product. My friends are amazed at all I can do with it. Showing my home videos and pictures on my TV is a favorite thing for me, plus the streaming of movies. Love it.

« Easy to Use, but Discs Freeze and Fails to Power-On »
The first dvd (concert dvd) i used in this player froze half-way through. I had to skip to the next chapter for it to begin playing again. This disc is not damaged because it works in my older dvd player. Also, after 3 days of sitting idle after i first set it up, the unit failed to power up / turn on. I had to unplug the power AND hdmi then plug it back in for the unit to power up / turn on. It took about 5 attempts before i had power again. Note that I updated to the latest firmware before playing discs.

Having had this unit for less than 1 week, I decided that I had to return this unit for a refund. These problems are unacceptable in any electronic device. I read a high number of other reviews on this site and cnet that said the unit freezes up while playing certain dvds - unacceptable. But couldn't find any other reviews noting the device having trouble powering on.

Anyhow, if it were not for those problems, I would have loved this blu-ray player. It was simple to connect to the wireless internet (comcast, using Linksys N router) and simple to link to my netflix account. It was also very easy to use: the menus were easy to find what I needed, netflix was easy to use and the menus were very accessible. Blu-ray disc startup was not fast, but not terribly slow, so it was very acceptable. Too bad the unit had those playback and powering up issues because it would received 5 stars otherwise. No way I'm keeping a device that diplays 2 major problems within a week of use.

« Does just what I wanted it to do »
I purchased this player from Amazon about a week ago. I mainly bought it to be a network media streaming device, but I will also use it to play Blu Ray movies from Netflix. It is my first Blu Ray device, but I have been using a Roku for Netflix streaming for over a year.

I found that it was very easy to set up, and the wireless networking works great with an older D-Link wireless router and Windows 7 Home Premium. I have a very fast Internet connection (Frontier FIOS) and the picture quality with Netflix streaming is excellent. It also does a nice job of displaying web albums from Picasa and my Windows 7 computer. The resolution and picture quality of jpg images from my computer is outstanding. I am also able to play audio files using Windows Media Player play lists that I have set up on my computer. The only disappointment is that it will not play the raw mjpeg format video files from my Canon digital camera, even though these files work fine in Windows Media Player. I need to convert these files to a different format using Adobe Premiere Elements or other software in order to view them. I would hope that LG might upgrade the firmware to allow playback of the files from Canon digital cameras at some point. This is not really a major problem because I would want to edit the files before watching them anyway.

So far I have only used it to play one Blu Ray DVD that I got from Netflix. That worked just fine. I did have to update the software/firmware of the player when I first set it up. That was done pretty much automatically.

All in all, I am very satisfied with this player, so far.

« Great Bluray with a few things I'd like to add »
Great Bluray player with excellent picture quality both in Bluray and standard DVD playback. Extra features like Netflix, Networking, Picture, work really great. I originally had the unit hooked up via ethernet cable but recently added a wireless N router and am now hooked up to the Bluray wirelessly. Online features are dependent on your network speed and I have a very good streaming speed for movies etc. thru my Linksys E3000N router. I really like this player, however I would also like to have internal storage for this unit which it does not and is needed for some of the additional features available on Bluray dvds. The menu is a little different and not really attractive to me. (Looks like some floating tablets for each function), sometimes hard to read. The updates to the player were a breeze to install wirelessly with no problems.
All in all a great player for the money.

    « Great Value, Super Easy-to-use »
LG did a terrific job on this product - great value. We bought it to complement our new Samsung 46 inch flatscreen. It took about 10 minutes from opening the box to when we could access movies from Netflix, listen to songs on Pandora and view videos on Youtube. Super easy to use. It has picked up and held our spotty Internet connection amazingly well. Picture quality for movies is top notch too. Good job LG.
